“When I came to the U.S. as a Ukrainian refugee, I was completely alone — no family, no support system, and battling deep depression. Then came the breast cancer diagnosis. It was August, and everything inside me collapsed. I felt hopeless. I even prayed for God to take my life.

But instead, He gave me something unexpected — a second chance. He placed Earth angels in my life. He brought me to Houston, where I received life-saving care and the love of a support system I never thought I’d have. Meredith, one of those angels, organized a charity dinner when I lost my job in the middle of chemotherapy. Her efforts allowed me to stop worrying about money and start focusing on healing.

Through her, and through so many kind souls that surrounded me, I experienced the love of God in ways I never imagined. Cancer didn’t destroy me — it brought me back to life. It helped me find purpose, hope, and community.

I now believe that I can move mountains — not because I’m strong, but because I am not alone.”
